Logo & Customisation Guide

Everything you need to know about preparing your logo and artwork for professional custom printed uniforms.

A professionally printed uniform is more than simply clothing. It helps create a professional image, makes your team easily recognisable and gives members confidence in your business from the moment they walk through the door.

The quality of your logo and artwork plays an important part in achieving the best possible printed result. The good news is that preparing your logo doesn't need to be complicated. Simply provide the highest quality version of your logo and our experienced production team will manually review your artwork before printing.

Whether you're ordering uniforms for an independent gym, personal training business, residential gym, hotel fitness facility or university fitness centre, this guide will help you prepare your logo and understand what happens after you place your order.

Preparing Your Logo

Preparing your logo correctly is one of the simplest ways to help ensure your finished uniforms look professional. This section explains what makes a good logo file, which file formats we recommend and how a few simple checks before ordering can help achieve the best possible printed result.

Why Preparing Your Logo Matters

Using good quality artwork can help:

• Produce sharper, clearer logo prints.
• Improve colour accuracy.
• Create a smarter, more professional appearance.
• Create a consistent look across your team.
• Reduce the need for artwork changes before production.

When reviewing artwork, we commonly look for:

• Low-resolution logo files.
• Screenshots instead of the original logo.
• Unwanted white or coloured backgrounds.
• Poor colour contrast between your logo and the garment.
• Very fine detail or small text that may not reproduce clearly when printed.

PTC Tip

Don't worry if you're unsure whether your logo is suitable for printing. Every order is manually reviewed before production and, if we believe your logo may not reproduce to a high standard, we'll contact you before printing to recommend the most suitable solution.

Choosing the Right Logo File

We always recommend uploading the highest quality version of your logo that you have available. Better quality artwork almost always produces a better quality print.

Vector Files (Recommended)

For the best print quality, we recommend supplying your logo as a vector file, such as a PDF, Adobe Illustrator (AI), EPS or SVG. Vector files can be scaled to any size without losing quality, making them ideal for producing sharp, professional prints.

PNG

A high-resolution PNG file with a transparent background (minimum 200 dpi) also produces excellent print results and is suitable for most logos.

JPG

If you don't have a vector or PNG file, we can also work with a high-resolution JPG. If your logo has a simple white or coloured background that can easily be removed, we'll normally do this during our artwork review at no additional charge.

Check Small Text

If your logo contains a slogan, website address or other small text, consider whether it will still be readable once printed. Very small lettering may need to be enlarged to ensure it remains clear.

Consider the Print Size

A logo printed on the left chest will naturally appear much smaller than one printed across the back of a hoodie or T-shirt.

Dark Coloured Uniforms

White or light-coloured logos usually provide the strongest contrast on black, navy and other dark garments, making them easier to see in busy gym environments.

Light Coloured Uniforms

Black or darker-coloured logos generally provide the clearest result on white and lighter-coloured garments.

Full Colour Logos

Many company logos can be printed in full colour, helping to maintain a consistent business image across your uniforms. Depending on the garment colour and print method, slight adjustments may occasionally be recommended to improve visibility.

Choosing the Right Print Position

The position of your logo can have a significant impact on how visible it is and how professional your uniforms look. The best position will depend on the type of garment, the role of the wearer and how you want your business to be represented.

Chest Print

The most popular choice for everyday staff uniforms. Left and right chest prints provide a smart, professional appearance and are suitable for almost every type of garment.

Upper Back

An excellent position for larger logos or job titles, helping staff remain easily identifiable while moving around the gym. Many fitness businesses combine a large upper back print with a smaller chest logo to maximise visibility while maintaining a smart, professional appearance.

Sleeve

Sleeve printing is commonly used for a secondary logo or a small design feature that complements the main logo without overpowering it.

Adding Job Titles & Staff Names

Adding staff names and job titles helps create a more personal and professional experience for your members and clients while making it easier to identify individual team members and their roles.

This option is particularly popular for:

• Personal Trainers

• Gym Instructors

• Reception Teams

• Membership Advisors

Displaying staff names can help build stronger relationships with regular members and clients by making interactions more personal and approachable.

Job titles also make it easier for members and clients to identify the right person for assistance and can be particularly valuable in larger fitness facilities where multiple departments work together.

Creating a Consistent Look Across Your Team

Consistency is one of the easiest ways to create a professional image.

Using the same logo position, print colours and personalisation across your team helps members recognise staff more easily and creates a smart, unified appearance throughout your business.

If different departments wear different garments, keeping the logo style and positioning consistent wherever possible helps reinforce your company image.

PTC Tip

Before placing your order, consider whether every member of staff should have the same design or whether different roles would benefit from different levels of personalisation. For instance reception staff may not have a job role printed on the back whereas a personal trainer would.

Before You Place Your Order

Before submitting your order, it's worth taking a few minutes to check everything is correct. A simple review can help avoid unnecessary delays and ensure your uniforms are printed exactly as you expect.

Use the checklist below before completing your order.

✓ You've uploaded the highest quality version of your company logo.
✓ Your logo colours provide good contrast against your chosen garment colour.
✓ You've selected the correct print positions.
✓ All staff names are spelt correctly.
✓ All job titles are correct.
✓ You've selected the correct garment colours and sizes.
✓ You've checked your order quantities.

If you're unsure about any aspect of your artwork or order, our team is always happy to help before production begins.

Artwork Review & Approval

One of the advantages of ordering from Personal Trainer Clothing is that every order is manually reviewed before production.

Rather than simply printing the artwork exactly as it's received, we carefully check your logo and design to ensure it's suitable for printing.

During this review, we check the quality of your logo, print size and colour contrast, making any simple adjustments where appropriate to help achieve the best possible result.

If we identify anything that may affect the finished print quality, we'll contact you before production begins.

If We Recommend Changes

If we believe a simple adjustment will improve the finished result, such as removing a plain background or making a minor size adjustment, we'll normally carry this out during our artwork review at no additional charge.

If we believe a proposed change could significantly alter the appearance of your logo or design, we'll always contact you before production begins. We will send you an artwork proof showing how your design will appear for your approval before production starts.

No significant changes will ever be made without your approval.

PTC Tip

Taking a few minutes to review your artwork proof carefully before approving it helps avoid delays and ensures your uniforms are printed exactly as you expect.

What next?

Your custom printed uniforms are typically produced within 7 to 10 business days, with delivery taking a further 1 to 3 business days. This usually includes artwork approval unless significant artwork changes are required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you remove the background from my logo?

In many cases, yes. If your logo has a simple white or coloured background that can easily be removed, we'll usually remove it during our artwork review at no additional charge.

Can I use more than one logo on my uniforms?

Yes. Many businesses add a second logo, such as a partner organisation, event or charity logo. We'll advise if any adjustments are needed to achieve the best overall appearance and print quality.

Can I add different names and job titles to each garment?

Yes. Individual staff names and job titles can usually be added to each garment, making it easy to personalise uniforms across your team while maintaining consistent branding.

Will I see my artwork before printing?

Where additional artwork approval is required, we'll provide an artwork proof for you to review before production begins. This gives you the opportunity to check your design and request any necessary changes before your uniforms are printed.

Can I use the same artwork for future orders?

Yes. Once your artwork has been approved and your order completed, it can normally be reused for future repeat orders, making the reordering process quicker, easier and more consistent.
